Are any products tested on animals? No. We will never test products on animals.
Are products suitable for use during pregnancy? While we expect that the majority of products are safe during pregnancy there is of course precautions to be taken in terms of contact with a small specific selection of Essential Oils. Unfortunately we are unable to give specific advice here, pregnancy information sources may provide more information along with of course your GP. Also we will soon be launching a Mother & Baby range of bathing & skincare products specially formulated for babies skin as well as mothers during pregnancy. Products suitable for Vegetarians? Yes. We do not use animal products in our formulations aside from Milk (Sleepy Milk Bath Treatment), Beeswax (Used in Lip Balm) and Honey (Used in Love Soak bath treatment and Honeycake Soap).
Products suitable for Vegans? We do not use animal products in the majority of our formulations so all products are Vegan Friendly aside from Sleepy Milk Bath Treatment (contains Milk), Lip Balms (contain Beeswax), Love Soak Bath Treatment and Honeycake Soap (contain Honey).
Are products Paraben free? Yes. It is understood that Parabens are used in over 90% of bodycare & makeup products, even high price point high end brands. While certified as skin safe while they are found in so many products we use daily recent studies have linked frequent exposure to various negative effects such as premature aging of the skin & breast cancer and so further research has been recommended. So Savonnerie formulations are all Paraben free giving customers a choice to avoid Parabens in their daily bodycare.
Are products Sulphate free? Yes. Sulphates such as SLS/SLES/ALS are powerful detergents found in many products from body wash to floor cleaner, often used in clinical studies to induce and measure skin irritation. These detergents strip natural oils essential to the skins function leaving skin feeling tight, irritated and dry. Savonnerie's bodycare product are made from natural oils, gentle and complimentary to the skin to ensure gentle cleansing that maintains the skin's natural balance and soft texture.
Are products Petrochemical free? Yes. Petrochemical ingredients are clearly obtained from the petrochemical industry so would not be classed as sustainable or ethically sourced. Petrochemicals are found in many both low and high price bodycare products but are not generally used for any skincare benefit but to alter the feel of a product in use. Petrochemicals can clog the skin, reducing it's essential natural function and preventing it from breathing. All Savonnerie products use natural ingredients chosen to be compatible with the skin's natural processes.
Are products Free from Artificial Colours? Yes. List as CI numbers the majority of colours are artificial and as simply there to alter the colour of the product and do not offer any skincare benefit. Articificial colours often do not readily bio-degrade and can enter the body through the skin where they cannot be metabolised by the body. As there is no skincare benefit Savonnerie does not utilise artificial colourings.
Are products Free from Artificial Fragrance? Yes. Artificial fragrances are found in many skincare, bodycare and perfume products and can contain artificial chemicals that with continued exposure can cause sensitisation and skin irritation. They do not provide any skincare benefits and as such Savonnerie uses on pure, premium grade Essential Oils for their full aroma therapeutic effect. | ||||||
